Site Maintenance - Content Management

Developing an effective web site is not a one-time task. Your company web site should be the hub of your business, not just a static brochure or calling card to send prospects to. It should grow with your business - changing, expanding and evolving in order to be truly effective.

We offer three options for clients to take control of maintaining and editing and growing their sites:

Site Maintenance:

To really build your small business it is important (though often difficult) to focus on what you do best, outsourcing any tasks that can be outsourced to experts in those areas.

For an average of $150 every two or three months we implement for our clients, directions for any content changes to keep their site fresh and current. Adding new pages, posting time-sensitive event information, changing company or staff information etc. to keep a site up to date while ensuring the site design and flow remains consistent - true to the original style and navigation.

All routine maintenance tasks are completed within 72 hours - ( usually much less).

Content Editing Tools

For those that are interested in managing the regular updates and evolution of their site in-house, we recommend and train our clients to use Adobe Contribute. It is a very robust and very reasonably priced software that can be used to make basic content edits, add new pages or insert images to web sites. It enables areas of the site to be protected while others are open for editing. It affords plenty of flexibility for clients who want to be hands-on.

The software itself is less than $200 and we offer a three hour training for $250. With a view to ROI this investment pays for itself very quickly as we will implement live changes in the training - saving this one-time maintenance cost and you clients typically update their sites far more often (increasing search engine optimization benefits) when they no longer need to pay someone else to do it.

CMS - Content Management System

Sites may be designed and developed using a CMS or content management system. Database driven sites utilizing a CMS allow a client to log in to access a set of administrative tools to add, modify and replace content and pages.

This is a more costly choice up front, but it allows clients to have an administrative employee maintain the site without the need to touch the code. The benefit of this solution is the integrity of the site look and feel and navigation will never be compromised. The caveat with this solution is there are often restrictions in how flexible the site design or individual pages of content can be, depending on the CMS solution chosen.
