A Renewed Life Lesson... "Practice What You Preach"
Perhaps more of an observation than a tip, I have recently been reminded that actions speak louder than words.
Why is it that I find it easier to help others than to help myself? I regularly help clients focus their branding, improve their site usability, search engine optimization (SEO), content, and help to demystify and teach the benefits of other forms of online communication. However, I have just recently (finally) begun to actually practice what I preach -- dusting off my own website, increasing activity and content (web advice 101), tweeting, linking and publishing my own e-newsletter on a more regular basis.
This is my seventh newsletter in as many weeks. By keeping my services top of mind for my subscribers, I have seven new projects. Some are from my existing clients, some from referrals and some are from brand new customers. In every case, the regular newsletters helped establish trust and motivated them to act.
Don't question the return on investment (ROI) with every newsletter. It's about engaging your subscribers and keeping your business constantly in their thoughts. Promotional emails drive sales while E-newsletters inform and educate. More importantly, they build loyalty and trust with a growing audience over time by consistently delivering valuable advice and information.
Why Publish an e-newsletter? From Marketing Profs - this is a great little short list of questions to ask yourself...
1. Do you have repeat Customers? 2. Do you reach prospects through other media who may be potential customers, but who are not ready to buy right now? 3. Is there potential for your prospects and customers to recommend your company to other business owners? 4. Do you have information you could share with prospects and customers which you think might be of value to them?

It was actually snowing on my way home last night - starting to think about New Year's resolutions.
